Episode 1 - Pilot
The show starts out with heavy rain in the Connecticut area as a man in a indigo rain jacket and baseball cap as he covers his face. He walks down the plains as he walks to a cabin in the woods and stops facing it as the distributing music grows louder as he stands there....
Video starts with Katie Haven sits at the end of the table and looks asleep but the FBI investigator clears his throat and she walks up. Katie asks what time is it? The FBI investigator tells her half past 10. She groans as she has stayed up all night and she forgot about her brief check up. She gets up as a tired and sleepy look on her face and says sorry to Billy Adams, the FBI investigator. He says its fine as he knows how hard she works. Katie asks if there any way to get a coffee with three Hazelnut creams and three sugar cubes. Billy says alright but only this time. Katie straightens out everything and fades out again for a quick nap...
Katie is on open land in a forest area of Connecticut as yellow tape surrounds the area as the cabin near by has FBI full of it taking evidence. Katie stands tall with her hands in her wool jacket and white scarf on. She looks at the scene with no emotion as Dane Jacks comes up and tells her time of death was 3:16 with only a call of the victim missing three days ago. Wife left a message that he may have gone to his old hunting cabin and one police cop went in and found him. Katie ask any clue on how he got in. Dane says Justin and Gabriel are already working on that. Katie walks to the cabin as Dane asks Katie if what happened last night made her uncomfortable... She stops him and says it was only just drinks and him trying to kiss her was just him being drunk. She goes on as Dane stands ashamed. Katie enters as she sees A regular living room with a fireplace as the victim sits down on a lazy boy to make it look like he wasn't died. The victim has a paper mache mask hot glued on four corners of the face to make sure it didn't fall off. Gabriel walks up as Katie examines the mask. Gabriel says the killer did that after he drowned his victim. Katie says He drowned him in the tub, like an idiot? Gabriel says "No he actually didn't do it here...." Katie looks up like Gabriel is joking. Katie sees a wet trails on the floor as the killer dragged his victim but not with much trouble. Katie asks if there any DNA on the mask. Justine comes in with a Lab Tech uniform as he says "No and all I can find is that the victim was drowned in rain water. Katie looks confused as she searches the place and finds a little Origami figure of a dragonfly above the widow pane. Katie tells did they notice this? They both say no and Katie picks it up. They are amused by the talent of the work. Dane walks in, sees the victim and asks to see if there is any signs in the house to find cause or where this was done. Katie says its too late and he took the victim away and God's knows where he went to do this. Maybe a creek or a lake nearby. Dane is shocked because of how cold the body is already.
We go back to the meeting as Katie wakes and has a cup of coffee in her face as Billy is back for her meeting. Katie straightens out and asks him what does he want to know. Billy says to relax and say this is just mandatory and he doesn't care if she thinks their watching her. Katie says I haven't been told that before. Billy ignores that and starts by telling the date and time and agent and begins. He asks "Tell me about your name, title, and last case." Katie says "Hello I am Katie Margot Haven. I am Special Detective for FBI Homicide and my last case was and still is, THE ORIGAMI Killer." Katie takes a sip of her cafe and coughs as she gets signaled to go on and says "A killer who during heavy rain storms kill his victim by drowning them in rain water outside and where no evidence can be found. Places them back in their homes and look like nothing's wrong and glues a paper mask onto them to hide identity." Billy says "Thank you. Now tell me what was it like before your case started?" Katie says "Nothing much just a call from Chief and the rest is history, I suppose."
Katie is home at New Haven, Connecticut as she lives in a quite peaceful home as she gets a call from the department for help. She drives into the headquarters as the office looks business and gets called into the office by Rick. She goes into Chief Rick Spellman, he's on the phone with someone and tells them to calm the people down. Katie asks whats up and Rick tells her that had a murder one they have never seen before. Katie isn't sure if she should be going in as she is just learning to become a full time agent. Rick tells her she has to do it as no one can seem to find anything out. Not one piece of evidence is found on why or how it was done. Katie says she only does special cases for what she does. Rick says do it and gets a full recommendation for full time in the agency and he gets a raise so he can support his gay son through art school to find himself. Katie seems interested what got him so excited for the case. Rick says they found an origami Swan at the crime scene. Katie looks interested and takes the files on the desk and looks at what they found. Rick says "No one can find details like you can at a crime scene." The victims were missing for five days and all drowned in rain water. Rick says no prints, no blood, nothing. Katie looks interested and asks "Rick, full time?
Katie drives downtown as she goes to the crime scene and gets in through Rick. She looks as sees The victim at the dinner table in his apartment but a lamb mask is on the victims faces. Katie examines the scene and finds no trails or blood and barely signs of struggle. Nothing out of place like it was suppose to be like that. Dane walks in and says "Whoa look who was got here? The protegee is home!" Dane smiles as Katie shrugs him off. Rick tells Dane to lay back and let Katie work. Dane asks why have the masks on them. Katie replies "So he doesn't have any relation with them." Dane looks confused and says so "he says sorry by dressing them up for Halloween?" Katie says "He wants to let us know this wasn't personal. Not picked just random everywhere. Anything he did knock down, it was set back and careful to leave any evidence. Dane says the origami was sent to the lab and is up for a look when ready. Katie focused too much on the scene and Dane goes off failed at getting with Katie. Katie stares at the three victim's faces.
Back to the meeting, as Billy then asks "Now we got the into detail. Tell me about your social life. " Then it shows Katie going home as she goes to her loft and goes to pour a glass of white wine and plays Noah Jones on a record player. She looks at the files again and listens to her music. "I normally live alone. I like it that way. Makes things easier to do." Katie says. Billy asks "You don't go out or socialize?" "Not if you include my mom or family for that matter." She says. "Tell me about your mom. I heard she is a children specialist."
We are at the home of Quinn Redwood as it looks like a Country Home magazine cover. Katie sits at a table in a the kitchen with a cup of tea as Quinn is making chicken soup for the cold weather lately. Katie asks "how has life been?" Quinn tells her that being retired has shown her one thing. You don't realize how much you think about helping others after its all done. Then asks Katie how she is doing. Katie says "Fine just got a lot of work to handle with and classes." Quinn tells her that she needs to slow down and catch her breath and get into life. Katie says She has a group to study with and hang with but not much after that. Quinn goes up to her on the other side of the table and stops for a while and asks if Katie is ok. Katie asks her has she talked to Mary or if she is dating again. Katie tells "Honestly, do you think Mary wants to talk to me after a year?" Quinn reassures her that maybe she needs to mend some burned bridges and that can help. Katie says she'll try but no promises. Quinn looks at Katie and says "I worry about you, bud." Katie smiles and reaches out for Quinn's hand and says "You know I always love you." Billy overhead asks "What is your relationship with your sister like?" Katie joins and says "Like any typical sister-sister relationship is like. One is successful and the other goes south." We go to Mary going out of the house with her daughter, as they go to the minivan. Katie is seen down the road and says hey making Mary freeze in her tracks. Katie asks how she is doing and Mary says "What the hell are you doing here?" Katie doesn't see whats wrong and she is doing is saying hi. Mary keeps going with Mia to the car as Mary says she can't talk to Katie at the moment as she and Mia are going out for ice cream and a movie. Katie says she is in town for the moment and was wondering how things are. Mary stops in her tracks and turns to Katie and asks "Why so you can get close to me and get some subscriptions like last time?" Katie says she is sorry for that and that was the past. Mary doesn't buy it and keeps going putting her daughter in the car and heads out to drive it. Katie says sorry and tries to see her niece. Mary tells her that she has to go and drives off leaving Katie alone.
Back to the meeting, Katie looks hurt from the memories and says "Four years ago... I had a pill problem. I used to get these headaches and pain along my neck... Doctors would poke at you and tell you nothing is the problems and tell me I'm fine.... Well I don't feel fine and I came out one day to my medical intern sister and asked for a few Valiums... You never suspect you can be an addict... Funny thing about being addict you don't think anything is wrong. Whole life of being right finally came down on me and I got help eventually... You can't stay messed up forever." Billy asks if she is taking now. Katie says "No I have been two years sober." Billy then replies "So since your niece has been born?" Katie doesn't answer as she continues and asks for anymore questions. Billy then asks how the case has been now?.
Katie walks out of the break room in the office as they looks at the clip board with all the evidence of the Origami killer as he has been murdered 9 people so far. All the same way and with the collection of custom masks and origami figures. Katie gives Dane a cup of coffee and Dane asks what this guys deal. Katie says "He feels lose." Dane asks does she know that. Katie replies that since he covers the faces he has no emotional ties but kills then in what he believes in a natural death, he needs this. Dane says he can't figure it out why he is in sorrow. Katie then says "Well you were never good at figuring out anyone's reactions I guess." Dane looks like he just got burned and Katie walks away and Gabriel comes up to her and tells her they found something with the last origami figure. They said the dragonfly has some numbers and letters on the paper. Katie sees it as a clue and a message. Justin walks in and says the paper also has lavender caked on it. Katie looks at the numbers and letters. She says they need to find out the message. Then gets left alone with Justin, as he flirts and asks if she open to a nice steak. Katie shows interest and says maybe she would be open for time. Justin kisses Katie's neck and Katie smiles as Justine goes to work.
Billy stops Katie and tells her that may as well be enough. Katie is surprised and asks if that is really all with. Billy says yes and all he needed was he progress and that she keep up the good work. Katie is shocked and Billy sets up and leaves. The camera off and now Katie is walking down the streets looking at the message. Katie gets home and finds Justin there with take out. Katie set back as she is tired. Justin says "I know its not Chili's" Katie laughs and goes up to Justin and thanks him for the food but she would be good company. Justin insists and takes out the food containers and says "its the breakfast of champions." Katie smiles and laughs and says "What the hell?" They have a date as Rod Stewart plays on their date. Justin asks if this is something, Katie says maybe. Justin says well he wants her to know he is there and ready if ready. Katie says its not like I haven't thought about it. Justin says really? Katie teases him by almost kissing him and then goes for a egg roll. Justin tells her "You know how to get where you want to be." Katie thinks and realizes the numbers are coordination and the letters. She takes out a map and follows the clues and goes to an area that may be a place to meet. Kristin excuses herself from Justin and leaves him alone. Katie head to the place as it turns out to be an empty warehouse by in the middle there is a table with a origami figure. Katie takes the figure and looks around. Katie opens the figure and it reads "DON'T TRUST ANYONE, Agent Haven" she looks around in panic as she may have been followed and hears someone running and she runs after him and goes through the dark and chases the man as she gets lost in the woods. The man nowhere in sight....
Dane calls up his girlfriend, Sonja, who is smoking a joint at her apartment. Dane asks if she was free for some downtime and probably go out. She says she will after she writes the article on the Origami Killer. Dane tells her to stop with the killer talk. Sonja says it would go faster if he gave some information. Dane tells her about the agreement they had when they started to date. Sonja lays off and tells him she'll call in a hour. Dane groans but agrees and goes to his car to get ready. Sonja goes back to her article on her blog which gets published in a independent newspaper, Reader's Flow, as she has the article titled :TRAIL TO THE ORIGAMI KILLER". Quinn visits Mary. Mary is surprised by the visit and let her in to talk. Quinn tries to talk to Mary about getting along with her sister like an old hag. Mary tells Quinn its hard to do that after her abuse. Quinn tries reassure that Katie is getting better as she is working and trying to find a man. Mary asks "How is that gonna last? Remember how fragile she gets when she gets into a case. She goes into a different place. A dark one...."
Katie drives back to the office as she looks at all the other pieces of origami and sees there are numbers and letters again. But the first one has a letter saying "When the parents went to church the children were left home alone. When the parents came back, the children were gone. On a Sunday the children were gone. They were never to be found again. " Katie sits down shocked that she has been watched by someone and played like a chump the whole time.
Mary's voice is heard overhead... "Once she sets it in place there's no stopping her. God help whoever is included pray they be able to survive..." Katie begins to look odd as she stares at the pictures and images her there again.
"Katie Haven pray on for the wicked."
The high scary violins stop and goes to black with an Swan origami with blood in a picture.
